UK, May 1, 2007 - Sony has revealed that its "Go! Cam", a video camera accessory for the PlayStation Portable, can be purchased for ¿34.99 from Europe.
Go! Cam can take photographs and record videos - with audio, thanks to the built-in microphone. These can then be stored on the PSP's Memory Stick, with up to two and a half hours of video or 40,000 photos storable on a 4GB Memory Stick.
Sony's new cam also comes bundled with Go! Edit software, enabling users to upload pictures and video to the internet directly from the PSP. The software can also be used to enhance movies and photos with sounds or graphical effects.
The camera mounts atop the Sony PSP via the USB connection slot, and a screw. It is a 1.3 megapixel camera, meaning it takes photographs with a resolution of 1280 x 960 (5” x 7” printed), similar to cameras found in cellular phones. The camera is able to record video with audio.
On August 22, 2007, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced at the 2007 Leipzig Games Convention that instant messaging software (branded Go!Messenger) due for release in January 2008 will allow the Go!Cam to be used for video conferencing and voice chat.
*Entertainment America stated that the PSP Camera and PSP GPS will be released sometime 2008.
